Sustainability has become an important topic in tourism. Because tourism activity has such a large impact on the economy, the environment, and the culture of the host community, it is essential to maximize the benefits and minimize the detriments of tourism on these three areas.
VolunTourism is a way for students, families, groups, or individuals to enjoy the incredible natural and cultural attractions of Nicaragua and at the same time contribute to sustainable development. We are able to cater to each group’s or individual’s needs and talents in creating a package of tourism and volunteer activities that includes everything from airport transportation to surfing and fishing to working with rural villages on construction projects. Spanish classes and a range of other activities are also available. Most importantly VolunTourists have the unique opportunity to experience local life by staying with a Nicaraguan family.
