Designed to better reflect our mission, programs, and partnerships, the site makes it easier than ever to explore our work, follow our impact, and discover ways to get involved.
As we look ahead to Comunidad Connect's 20th anniversary next year, the website also gives us a place to share the stories, milestones, and memories that have shaped the organization over the past two decades. In the months ahead, we'll be adding reflections from volunteers, partners, staff, and community members as we celebrate this important milestone together.
Most importantly, thank you. Whether you've been with us for 20 years or just recently joined the journey, your support has helped make this work possible. We invite you to explore the new site, and stay tuned as we begin celebrating the people and partnerships behind Comunidad Connect's first 20 years.Screenshot%202026-07-13%20064732.png
Designing With Community This summer, Comunidad Connect welcomed back Clemson University Landscape Architecture students and faculty for a six-week immersive program exploring how community-based design can support inclusive tourism and sustainable development in Puerto Plata.
Working alongside residents of Nuevo Renacer, students completed an ambitious design process, from site analysis and community engagement to concept development and final presentations. Their work was informed not only by the community but also by experiences across the Dominican Republic, including visits to cloud forests, coffee farms, historic cities, and local organizations that deepened their understanding of place and culture.
The program culminated with students presenting their final designs to community members, whose ideas and partnership shaped every proposal. Thank you to Clemson University, CHAVÓN School of Design, UASD School of Architecture, our many local partners, and especially the residents of Nuevo Renacer for making this collaboration possible.

Working alongside local families, the team completed home improvement projects identified through ongoing community partnerships, including a bathroom renovation for a woman recovering from a severe stroke, roof repairs, and cement floor installations. These improvements will help create safer, healthier homes and provide lasting support for families facing significant challenges.
We are grateful for Westminster's continued partnership and their commitment to serving alongside our communities year after year.
interior%20design.png Together for Health: Caring for Patients - and Their Caregivers Across Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, Comunidad Connect's Together for Health program continues to strengthen access to care while supporting the people who make that care possible.
In Nicaragua, we're sharing the stories of the patients currently enrolled in the program, highlighting the life-changing impact of consistent access to specialized medical care, medications, and long-term follow-up. We'll continue featuring these patient spotlights in the months ahead, celebrating the progress made possible through your support.

Through education, home visits, and peer connection, the program recognizes a simple truth: when we care for caregivers, we also improve care for patients.
Together, these efforts reflect the heart of Together for Health, building healthier communities by investing in both patients and the families who care for them.
