Late last year, Kennesaw State Nursing Professor Jonathan Steppe and Comunidad Connect CEO Jon Thompson traveled to Montellano, Dominican Republic to conduct research for Johnathan’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) dissertation.

In partnership with Health Horizons International (HHI), Johnathan utilized PhotoVoice to document and better understand the roles and experiences of local community health promoters associated with HHI. PhotoVoice is a research method in which participants take pictures to illustrate and discuss their work with facilitators. They photograph people, places and things that are important to them, which leads participants to define and interpret for themselves the research questions.

We are incredibly proud of Johnathan and grateful for the opportunity to work together. For more info about this and other graduate research opportunities with Comunidad Connect, contact info@comunidadconnect.org.
